Palmer Park is in the middle of Colorado Springs and offers a variety of trails. At the top of Palmer Park is Mesa trail, and it has several trails that intertwine off of it. It’s about a 2 mile loop with a small section that jets off of it to a beautiful view of Pikes Peak. There are benches to sit on and admire the view. The trail is relatively flat and has views of Colorado Springs from several angles.
The trail allows off leash dogs to walk with their owners. If your dog is one to run off or be aggressive with other dogs, I wouldn’t walk here with your dog. Off leash dogs will greet your dog and there are plenty of places for a dog to run off. Roxy really enjoys this trail and being able to run around off leash.
It’s big enough that it’s not overly crowded on the trail. You can see in the pictures that it has large paths and plenty of open space. Roxy likes to walk around in some of the nearby bushes and then pop back up on the trail with me. She also really loves to find a tree with some shade and take a break for a few minutes.
If you live or are staying in Colorado Springs, it’s a great place to go for a quick hike/walk with your dog.
